Franklin County RISE for Our Youngest Children
Led the historic $22 million RISE early learning initiative, partnering with Future Ready Five to provide child care scholarships for families, incentive awards for providers, and housing support for underpaid early educators. Fighting so every child starts school ready to learn and every parent can work.

In 2007, Erica's great aunt asked her a question that changed everything: "Why not you?"
Growing up in Youngstown, Ohio in a single parent household, Erica knew what it meant to face adversity. Her mother overcame addiction. Her father, a Vietnam veteran, never went to college. Through it all, Erica found her life's purpose: serving others and giving people the voice she once thought she didn't have.
A first generation college graduate, Erica earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminology from Cleveland State University, a Master's in Public Administration from Walden University, and a Juris Doctorate from Capital University Law School where she was named Graduate of the Year.
She served in the U.S. Navy and spent years advocating for children and families with Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), the YMCA Head Start Program, and the Black Child Development Institute. She represented Ohio's 26th House District before being elected as the first Black woman Commissioner in Franklin County's history.
In 2025, her colleagues elected her President of the Board of Commissioners. Today, she is the proud mother of twin girls, and the tireless advocate for every family in Franklin County.
